French Toast Casserole

Sharing is caring!

French Toast Casserole is currently my favorite recipe to make for breakfast. It has just a few ingredients, it is simple, and you put it together the night before, making our chaotic morning a little easier. Plus, it is actually really good. I tested it out on my kids, husband, and sister and I got thumbs up all around. This casserole would be easy to tweak and change up like throwing in some bananas or blueberries.

Ingredients:
1/2 cup melted butter (1 stick)
1 cup brown sugar
12 slices of Texas toast or French bread
4 eggs
1 1/2 cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla
Powdered sugar for sprinkling
Whip cream (optional)
Syrup (optional)

Directions:
Melt butter in the microwave & add brown sugar, mix well.
Pour the butter and sugar mixture into the bottom of a 9 x 13 glass pan, and spread around to cover the bottom of the pan.
Next beat eggs, milk, & vanilla together.
Layout a single layer of Texas Toast in the pan (6 slices should cover it).
Pour half of the egg mixture on the bread and then top with the 2nd layer of Texas Toast.
Pour the remaining egg mixture over the toast evenly. If you need to spread it around with a spoon.
Cover with foil and let it chill in the fridge overnight.
The next morning bake at 350 for 40 minutes (keep covered for the first 30 minutes)
Top the casserole with powdered sugar.
Serve with whip cream and warm syrup. French Toast Casserole
