Simple Garlic Bread Casserole Recipe

Introducing our twist on the traditional garlic bread – a hearty and delicious Garlic Bread Casserole! This recipe combines the savory flavors of 5 cheese Texas toast, ground beef, spaghetti sauce, and a generous sprinkle of Italian cheese. Easy to prepare and guaranteed to be a hit at your next family dinner or gathering, this casserole elevates the classic garlic bread to a whole new level.

This recipe was inspired by my desire to come up with super simple recipes that are also super cheap for my two college students to make in their apartments. 

Garlic Bread Casserole Recipe

Ingredients:

1 Box 5 cheese Texas toast 

1 Jar spaghetti sauce

1 lb ground beef or ground turkey or Italian sausage

2 cups Italian cheese

Directions:

Preheat your oven to 400°F (190°C) and lightly grease a 9×13 inch casserole dish. 

Take an entire box of Texas toast with 5 cheese and arrange the slices in the base of your dish, covering as much as the bottom as possible.

Bake the toast for 10 minutes.

When it is done baking lower the temperature to 375°F

In a large skillet, brown 1 pound of ground beef or ground turkey over medium heat, breaking it up as it cooks. 

Once thoroughly cooked, drain the fat and mix in one jar of spaghetti sauce. If you’d like you can add Tbsp of Italian seasoning.

Spread evenly the beef and spaghetti sauce mixture over the Texas toast in the casserole dish.

Sprinkle up to 2 cups of shredded Italian cheese blend over the spaghetti sauce and beef mixture.

How to make Garlic Bread Casserole Recipe

Bake for 20 minutes. 

Let the casserole sit for a few minutes before serving. 

Possible substitutions:

There are a lot of substitutions you could use. If you can’t find the 5 cheese toast just use Texas Garlic Toast instead. You could add a variety of things to the meat and sauce like red peppers, carrots, or onions. You can use mozzarella or parmigiano reggiano instead of an Italian cheese blend. I keep this version as simple as possible for my college kids!
